Blue Moon

See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…we need silence to be able to touch souls. – Mother Theresa

A very loooong waited moon shot and this very shot inspired me big time as its blue moon today.

People across the world witnessed the blue moon today 31 August, 2012. Blue moon occurs when two full moons appear in the same month. Every month we witness one full moon and one new moon but sometimes the full moon appears twice in the same month and this phenomenon is called blue moon. The next blue moon will occur only in 2015.

It takes 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds for the moon to go through all of its phases, from one full moon to the next. This time period is close to the length of a month

The moon is 2,160 miles in diameter — about a quarter of the earth’s diameter.

The average temperature on the moon is minus 283 degrees to minus 266 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is no sound on the moon. Nor is there weather, wind, clouds or colors at sunrise and sunset (I seriously doubt how come the US flag seems to be flying on the moon surface)

Thanks for the facts-reminder (that touched a controversy/conspiracy theory as well).
